Kris Parkin serves a Vice President of Human Resources for Travel Leaders Group, a North American travel company that generates gross travel sales approaching $21 billion annually and directly employs over 1,000 staff managing operations of more than 7,000 company-owned, franchised and affiliated travel agencies in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Greece, Ireland and Australia. Today, Travel Leaders Group has over 40,000 travel agents working directly for the organization or under one of its brands. Ms. Parkin reports directly to Ninan Chacko, CEO of Travel Leaders Group, which is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Travel Leaders Group was formed when the management team of Carlson Leisure Group (CLG) acquired CLG’s extensive portfolio of businesses from Carlson in January 2008; the move included more than 1,000 employees. Ms. Parkin had served as CLG’s Senior Director of Human Resources and was promoted to Vice President shortly after the acquisition took place.
Ms. Parkin is responsible for all aspects of Human Resources including organizational development, employee benefits, payroll, recruitment and employee relations for Travel Leaders Group. In addition to supporting Travel Leaders Group’s headquarters in Minneapolis, her Human Resources team supports employees at several company-owned locations throughout the United States, Canada and Uruguay.
Ms. Parkin served in a generalist Human Resources role within CLG for nine years prior to being named head of the department in 2006. She is credited with playing a pivotal role in the growth and development of the company, as well as its inception in 1996. Cumulatively, Ms. Parkin has spent over 30 years with the organization.
Ms. Parkin holds an Associate Degree in Science, Vocational Studies and Bible from the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, Minnesota.
