Jackie Friedman, CTC, CTIE, Nexion
Jackie Friedman is the president of Nexion, a fully licensed, bonded and accredited host agency with operations in both the United States and Canada. Ms. Friedman oversees an operation that employs 68 staff supporting more than 3,700 independent leisure and corporate travel professionals, most of whom work from home. Nexion is a branch of Tzell Travel Group, a Travel Leaders Group company.
Ms. Friedman joined the Nexion leadership team in 2004 as Vice President of Operations. In early 2007, her responsibilities increased when she was promoted to President and General Manager of the host agency with a focus on membership growth, supplier relations, marketing, business development, training, customer support, product development and fulfillment services. Under her leadership, the Nexion membership base has more than quadrupled and annual gross sales have grown to over $400 million a year.
Prior to joining the Nexion team, Ms. Friedman enjoyed a 15-year career with Sabre Travel Network, serving in a variety of account management, sales, business development and leadership positions in both Canada and the United States. During her time at Sabre, she consulted with both the sales teams and travel agency customers in North America, Latin America, Europe, Australia and Asia to optimize their use of the system, re-design service models, streamline processes and enhance customer engagement. Prior to joining Sabre, Ms. Friedman got her start in the travel industry working as a front-line agent and eventually a travel agency manager in her home town of Toronto, Canada.
Ms. Friedman brings proven success in leading organizational change, implementing new programs and managing day-to-day operations. She is often asked to participate on industry panels and is a member of several travel industry advisory boards, including the boards of directors for both the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) and the Professional Association of Travel Hosts (PATH), along with advisory boards for CLIA, Celebrity Cruises’ Advisory Board, NCL President’s Club, Royal Caribbean, Globus Presidents Council, Travel Insured International, Passport Online and the ASTA Corporate Advisory Council (CAC).
Ms. Friedman is a native of Canada, but recently became a citizen of the United States. She holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Western Ontario. Her professional training includes Leading Change and Organizational Renewal at Harvard Business School (2002), Developing Executive Leadership (AMA 2005), and the Menttium program (2005-2006). Her travel industry accreditations include Certified Travel Counselor (CTC) and Certified Travel Industry Executive (CTIE) from the Travel Institute.
